So I love checking out other people’s blogs, and the day that I stumbled across http://www.theleangreenbean.com I was in love with it! Lindsay has amazing posts, all of the time, and she is so entertaining. I definitely recommend that you head over and follow her blog.
After I started reading The Lean Green Bean, I found out that she set up this really cool program called Foodie Penpals! It is so awesome! Basically once a month, Lindsay goes through and matches up the 1,000 people who have signed up to be in the program for the month. (You can decide every month whether or not you would like to be involved in that particular month!) Then you get in contact with whoever you are assigned, and send them a package of food in the mail!
Well, the month of June was the first month I participated in this awesome program, and it was really neat! Mostly because I had SUCH an awesome girl who was assigned my name! Her name is Lindsay West. She has an AWESOME blog over here where she is always posting delicious recipes, and fun posts about her life!
I am so lucky that she was paired up with me! She sent me the most adorable foodie penpal package, and let me tell you, she has amazing taste!
Her package to me included:
A box of Sweet tarts (Love love love them!)
5 little bags of Virginia peanuts (She is from VA, and I didn’t even realize they are known for their delicious peanuts!)
A box of Kashi Cherry/Dark Chocolate granola bars (Which I am now addicted to!)
A delicious M&M cookie, baked at one of the local stores (This cookie was in my mouth the second that I opened the box…)
A bottle of Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce (Which I have actually always wanted to try! I am already planning a meal for it next week!)
A box of Crystal Lite raspberry lemonade mix to add to water bottles! (I needed this because I don’t drink enough water!!)
And an adorable card.
Enjoy the pictures!
I honestly couldn’t have had a better experience with the Foodie Penpal program, as far as the receiving end went. I was a little sad and disappointed though that the girl that I sent my box to didn’t seem very happy to contact me about the whole thing. First, she wouldn’t respond to my initial email until after the deadline because I guess she was out of town, and then she didn’t seem to know what was going on when she talked to me. I did finally get her address and put together a box for her, and sent it out (though a few days late because she was a little late responding to me). But I haven’t heard back from her at all about my box. So I’m assuming that A. She didn’t get the box, or B. She got the box but hated the contents. So that makes me a little sad because I did put a lot of time and effort into getting her box ready (Not to mention the money spent on the contents and shipping!)
But, I have decided that I will do the Foodie Penpal program again next month, and I will just keep my fingers crossed that the people I am paired with end up being like Lindsay West, because she made the whole thing so much fun for me! Thank you Lindsay!! And thanks to Linds at the Lean Green Bean blog for putting this whole program together! Such a fun idea, and so cool to be involved!!
